Latest Acquisitions

Well, I finally got off my lazy buttocks to go buy some things with the money my grandparents were so generous to give me.

1. The fifth and sixth books of the Dark Tower Series. Good, but kind of disappointing set against the sheer greatness that was the first four, and the the seventh seems to be making up for it. Hile Roland! Hile, Gunslinger!

2. A monster truck book full of pics. Enough said.

3. Stephan King's 'The Eyes of the Dragon' novel. I'll let you know how this one is after I finish barrelling through the Dark Tower series.

4. Gamma Ray's 'A Blast From the Past'. This has proven to be a very good compilation of a very good traditional heavy metal band. Kai Hansen is very quickly working his way up my list of favourite guitar players/vocalists. "We're the last before the storm!"

5. Mastodon's 'Leviathan'. Wow. Heavy stuff man, but all the lyrics are based on Moby Dick so that's pretty sweet. Who says metal heads are uncultured?

The Ramblings of a Bitter Mind, and Bleeding Soul

Okay, so here are some things that have been on my mind, and either bother me or not.

1. People, you are not stuck in a loop/circle/viscious cycle. You ARE the loop. Think about it. If things are going for you exactly the same for you in your new location, as they were in the old one, what is the one thing that is the same in both? That's right, it's you! You are the lowest common denominator in every situation you're in. What a novel concept! And if you don't believe me, try moving again.

2. Accountability. This word is for bankers only. Not for religious people, and definately not when applied to intrapersonal relationships, b/c people are ultimately only accountable to God, and since He hasn't given us (necessarily) His divine insight into everything there is no real point in trying to hold anyone accountable to our own standards. Remember a faith relationship is vertical between you and God first, and then your faith is reflected through your actions. And so you understand me and don't label me a heretic here it is in list format: First = Faith. Second = Actions born of faith and reflective Christ's love for us.

3. Being a really nice guy. It's frustrating, and some pointless sometimes. Somedays it feels like all you do is give (which i intellectually know isn't true), and what do you see for it? Other people getting to be happy while you sit alone, and forgotten. Whatever, however people justify using other people is beyond me. Grr.

A Heavy Metal Story. A Sample...

It was the year 2006, and across the Atlantic Ocean the Germans were preparing for the great metal-fest known as Wacken. A particularly heinous Death Metal band known as Holy Moses fronted by an ugly titanic slab of a woman ,whose name shall not be uttered here, was preparing to take to the stage.

Across the ocean in the US of A, a beautiful young metal princess known as Brittany was going about her day as usual. Riding her horse known as Nightmare across the sunny plains of America when she felt a disturbance in the Metal Force, the energy field that binds all things Metal together. Being particularly adept with the Metal Force she was able to locate the disturbance readily. She urged Nightmare back to her Metallic Fortress and there she underwent a dramatic transformation; from Brittany to Britt Lightning, Metal Maiden of Steel! She picked up her Tiger-Striped Jackson Flying-V and struck a mighty E-chord, flipped it over, placed one foot upon the headstock, and another upon the body and was sent flying at hypersonic speeds toward Wacken and near-certain Death Metal.

Random Musings IV

1. I'm tired, and I'm tired of being tired.

2. True Norsk Blak Metal! RAHHH!! (btw, the song Nepenthe by Sentenced, not too shabby)

3. Metallica = Over-rated. Yea they're good, and Master of Puppets is sweet, and Kill 'Em All is classic, but too many people think that The Black Album is the be-all and end-all in the metal world. This is simply not true. If any band has right to that claim it's Iron Maiden, and even then...

4. School is overrated. If it weren't for the people and kewl psych classes I'd have been long ago.

5. "Forget all your fury there's no need to cry"

6. Gamma Ray is an impossibly sweet band, and I really need to go buy one of their CDs.

7. Yes I'm still single. All those wishing to apply I'll be having interviews from....haha, yea right.
